Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground chicken
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (I prefer panko for extra crispiness)
- 1 large egg, lightly beaten
- 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
- Optional: 1/4 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or your favorite)
- Cooking spray
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the ground chicken, breadcrumbs, egg, onion, garlic, Dijon mustard, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. If you’re using cheese, add it now.
- Gently mix all the ingredients together until they are just combined. Be careful not to overmix, as this can make the patties tough.
- Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions. Shape each portion into a patty about 1/2 inch thick. I find it helpful to wet my hands slightly to prevent the mixture from sticking.
- Lightly spray the basket of your air fryer with cooking spray. This will prevent the patties from sticking.
- Place the patties in the air fryer basket, making sure they are not overcrowded. You may need to cook them in batches.
- Air fry at 375°F (190°C) for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the patties are golden brown and cooked through. The internal temperature should reach 165°F (74°C).
- Let the patties rest for a few minutes before serving. This allows the juices to redistribute, resulting in a more tender and flavorful patty.
