  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1.5 pounds boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt (full-fat or low-fat)
  • 2 tablespoons ginger-garlic paste
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 2 teaspoons garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1/21 teaspoon red chili powder (or Kashmiri chili powder)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon Ajwain (carom seeds), crushed
  • Fresh cilantro, chopped
  • lemon wedges
  • Instructions

  • Cut the chicken thighs into 1-inch cubes.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the Greek yogurt, ginger-garlic paste, lemon juice, garam masala, turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, red chili powder (or Kashmiri chili powder), salt, and ajwain (if using). Mix well until everything is thoroughly combined.
  • Add the chicken cubes to the marinade and toss to coat evenly. Ensure every piece is well-covered. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or a lid and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or preferably overnight, for maximum flavor penetration.
  • Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 5 minutes.
  • If using skewers, thread the marinated chicken cubes onto skewers, leaving a little space between each piece. If not using skewers, arrange the chicken in a single layer in the air fryer basket or on the tray. Avoid overcrowding the air fryer, as this will prevent the chicken from cooking evenly. You may need to cook the chicken in batches.
  • Air fry for 12-15 minutes, flipping the chicken halfway through, until it is cooked through and has a slight char on the edges. The internal temperature should reach 165°F (74°C).
  • Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve hot with lemon wedges. Enjoy your delicious Air Fryer Chicken Tikka!
