Make Valentine’s Day special with Air Fryer Chocolate Lava Cake quick, easy, and irresistibly gooey for a perfect romantic treat!

  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 ounces semi-sweet or dark chocolate, chopped
  • 0.25 cup unsalted butter
  • 0.25 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 0.25 cup all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • Powdered sugar (for dusting)
  • Optional: fresh raspberries or strawberries for garnish

Instructions

  1. Begin by melting the chocolate and unsalted butter together. You can do this over a double boiler on the stovetop or in the microwave in short bursts, stirring frequently until smooth and fully combined. Set aside to cool slightly while you prepare the other ingredients.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, egg yolks, and granulated sugar until the mixture turns pale, thick, and creamy.
  3. Slowly pour the melted chocolate and butter mixture into the egg mixture, whisking continuously to incorporate. Add the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt.
  4. Sift the all-purpose flour into the mixture and gently fold it in with a spatula until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  5. Lightly grease your air fryer-safe molds or ramekins with butter or non-stick spray. Pour the batter evenly into each mold, filling about three-quarters full.
  6. Preheat your air fryer to 370°F (188°C). Place the molds gently in the air fryer basket, ensuring enough space around them for even cooking. Air fry for about 8-10 minutes. The edges should be firm, and the center should still jiggle slightly.
  7. Remove the cakes from the air fryer and let them cool for 1-2 minutes. Carefully invert each cake onto a plate. Dust with powdered sugar and serve immediately with fresh berries or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
