Ingredients
Scale
- 2 (6-8 ounce) skin-on or skinless salmon fillets, about 1-inch thick
- 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 lemon, juiced and zested
- 2 tablespoons fresh herbs, chopped (parsley, dill, or chives, or a mix)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional: Red pepper flakes for a touch of heat
Instructions
- Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels. This helps to achieve a crispy exterior.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the olive oil, minced garlic, lemon juice, lemon zest, chopped herbs, salt, and pepper. Add red pepper flakes, if desired.
- Place the salmon fillets in a shallow dish or resealable bag. Pour the marinade over the salmon, ensuring it’s evenly coated. Let the salmon marinate for at least 15 minutes, or up to 30 minutes in the refrigerator. The longer it marinates, the more flavorful it will be.
- Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 3-5 minutes.
- Place the marinated salmon fillets in the air fryer basket, skin-side down if using skin-on fillets. Make sure the fillets are not overlapping. You may need to cook in batches depending on the size of your air fryer.
- Air fry for 8-12 minutes, or until the salmon is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork. The internal temperature should reach 145°F (63°C). Cooking time will vary depending on the thickness of the fillets and your air fryer model.
- Carefully remove the salmon from the air fryer. Garnish with extra fresh herbs and lemon wedges. Serve immediately.
