Ingredients
Scale
- 1.5 pounds salmon fillets, skin on or off, cut into portions
- 1/4 cup teriyaki sauce (store-bought or homemade)
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1/2 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- Sesame seeds, for garnish (optional)
- Chopped green onions, for garnish (optional)
- 1/2 cup soy sauce (for homemade teriyaki sauce)
- 1/4 cup mirin (sweet rice wine) (for homemade teriyaki sauce)
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar (for homemade teriyaki sauce)
- 1 tablespoon sake (rice wine) or dry sherry (optional) (for homemade teriyaki sauce)
- 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger (for homemade teriyaki sauce)
- 1 clove garlic, minced (for homemade teriyaki sauce)
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons cold water (slurry) (for homemade teriyaki sauce)
Instructions
- Prepare the Salmon: Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels.
- Marinate the Salmon: In a bowl, whisk together the teriyaki sauce, soy sauce, honey (or maple syrup), sesame oil, grated ginger, and garlic powder. Place the salmon fillets in the marinade, ensuring they are well coated. Marinate for at least 15 minutes, or up to 30 minutes in the refrigerator.
- Preheat the Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 5 minutes.
- Air Fry the Salmon: Lightly grease the air fryer basket with cooking spray. Place the marinated salmon fillets in the basket, skin-side down if using skin-on fillets, in a single layer. Do not overcrowd the basket; you may need to cook the salmon in batches.
- Cook the Salmon: Air fry for 8-12 minutes, depending on the thickness of the salmon fillets. Check for doneness at 8 minutes; the salmon should be opaque and flake easily with a fork. The internal temperature should reach 145°F (63°C).
- Glaze (Optional): During the last 1-2 minutes of cooking, brush the salmon with extra teriyaki sauce for an even more glossy and flavorful finish.
- Rest and Garnish: Carefully remove the salmon from the air fryer and let it rest for a minute or two before serving. Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions, if desired.
- Serve: Serve the Air Fryer Teriyaki Salmon immediately with your favorite sides, such as rice, steamed vegetables, or a fresh salad.
