Total Time:25 minutes
Yield:2 servings 1x
Ingredients
Scale
1 whole trout (about 1–1.5 pounds), cleaned and gutted
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 lemon, sliced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon dried thyme
1 teaspoon dried rosemary
Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
Fresh parsley, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
Rinse the whole trout under cold running water. Pat it dry thoroughly with paper towels, inside and out. Make shallow diagonal cuts, about an inch apart, on both sides of the trout.
In a small bowl, combine the olive oil, minced garlic, dried thyme, and dried rosemary. Season generously with salt and freshly ground black pepper. Rub the olive oil mixture all over the trout, making sure to get it into the cuts. Stuff the cavity of the trout with lemon slices. Let the trout sit for about 10-15 minutes.
Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C). Lightly grease the basket with cooking spray. Carefully place the trout in the air fryer basket. Air fry the trout for 12-15 minutes, or until the skin is crispy and the internal temperature reaches 145°F (63°C). Halfway through the cooking time, carefully flip the trout.
To check if the trout is done, insert a fork into the thickest part of the fish. The flesh should be opaque and flake easily. You can also use a meat thermometer to ensure the internal temperature has reached 145°F (63°C).
Once the trout is cooked through, carefully remove it from the air fryer and place it on a serving platter. Garnish with fresh parsley and additional lemon slices, if desired. Serve immediately while it’s hot and crispy.
