- 1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into 1-inch pieces
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp ginger powder
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tbsp honey (or maple syrup for a vegan option)
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 1 tbsp water
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1/2 tsp ginger, grated
- 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional, for a little heat)
- Sesame seeds (for garnish)
- Chopped green onions (for garnish)
Instructions
- Marinate the Chicken: In a bowl, combine the chicken pieces with 1 tbsp soy sauce, 1 tbsp sesame oil, garlic powder, ginger powder, and black pepper. Mix well to ensure the chicken is evenly coated. Let it marinate for at least 15 minutes, or up to 1 hour in the refrigerator.
- Prepare the Sauce: While the chicken is marinating, whisk together all the sauce ingredients (soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, cornstarch, water, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, and red pepper flakes, if using) in a small bowl until smooth.
- Air Fry the Chicken: Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C). Place the marinated chicken in the air fryer basket in a single layer, being careful not to overcrowd. You may need to cook in batches. Air fry for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the chicken is cooked through and golden brown.
- Add the Sauce: Once the chicken is cooked, transfer it to a large bowl. Pour the prepared sauce over the chicken and toss well to coat evenly.
- Final Air Fry (Optional): For an extra crispy finish, return the sauced chicken to the air fryer basket and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, or until the sauce is slightly caramelized and sticky. Watch carefully to prevent burning.
- Garnish & Serve: Transfer the Asian Style Air Fryer Chicken to a serving dish. Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions. Serve immediately and enjoy!
